Satey Kai - Nam tjim Satay recipe


Thai satay kai

(Thai Chicken Satay with peanut sauce)

1/2 pound Chicken fillet
2 tbsp Vegetable oil
1/2 cup Coconut milk
2 tbsp Coriander roots
1/2 tsp Curry powder
2 tsp Sugar
1/2 tbsp Fish sauce

for the sause:

3 tbsp Vegetable oil
2 tbsp Red curry paste
1/2 tsp Ground coriander
2 cups Coconut milk
3/4 cup Coarsely ground peanuts
2 tbsp Sugar
2 tbsp Lime juice
1 tsp Salt


Slice the chicken fillet into thin strips.

Mix all the other ingredients, mentioned below the chicken fillet, add the chicken slices and let it marinade for several hours.

Stick the chicken on a metal or wooden pen and grill on fire or electric grill turning the pen regularly.

Serve with peanut sauce, toasted or french bread and cucumber- or other salade.

Peanut Sauce

Heat the oil in a saucepan and add the red curry paste when it is hot. Change to medium heat and stir for 2 -3 minutes.

Now add the spices and after 2 more minutes you can add the rest of the ingredients, but be careful with the salt. You can add more while boiling.

Boil a few more minutes until the sauce thickens.

Serve on a warm plate.
